Engaged by Pace Communications to completely redesign United Airlines' in-flight magazine, we worked together with the editorial staff to create the name and editorial look and feel to launch the new publication. One important area of influence was the development of the cover concept. United was interested in covers from artists around the world to match its international reach. Yet the idea of commissioning designers and artists globally to create new images on a monthly basis was unworkable. We suggested "curating" the covers from world-famous designers, using posters they had previously created locally which had no international exposure. The idea worked, and the covers are a great repository of design history.
